LASHED SLED DESIGN

The sled MUST

be at least 5 feet long,
be at least 3 feet high,
be at least 18 inches wide,
have at least 15 lashed connections, and
have all rope ends whipped.

NO SKIS, METAL, OR PLASTIC MAY BE USED AS RUNNERS OR AS PART OF THE BASE OF THE SLED! (The base and runners MUST be wood.)

A suggested model is shown below. It uses 1/2" or larger dowels that are 8" long for glued vertical rods. The holes are drilled through one 2x4 but not through both. You could use saplings for all other poles.

Note: The dowels will be slippery and will not hold splices well unless you scuff them up quite a bit OR you could use pine tree sap.
